Iowa Governor Chet Culver declares December 7-13, 2009 Iowa Junior Chamber Week

Des Moines, IA - Iowa Governor Chet Culver recognized the contributions of the Iowa Junior Chamber by signing a proclamation declaring December 7-13, 2009 Iowa Junior Chamber Week. The Iowa Junior Chamber, known to many as the "Jaycees" have been contributing an average of 200,000 volunteer hours each year in over 40 communities throughout the state. In addition to volunteering, local chapters of the Iowa Junior Chamber contribute thousands of dollars each year to non-profit organizations, community organizations and scholarship funds for Iowa high school students.

The Iowa Junior Chamber was founded 81 years ago in Des Moines, Iowa and is a part of the United States Junior Chamber and Junior Chamber International. Junior Chamber International's mission is "To provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change." The Iowa Junior Chamber provides leadership development opportunities for men and women between the ages of 18 and 40. These development opportunities build skills through business and service projects. These effective personal and professional skills allow members to excel within their communities. For over 80 years, the Junior Chamber has been the original organization of choice for young adults (ages 18-40) in Iowa, providing direction and leadership for our communities, our state, our world!

Our organization gives young adults the tools and support they need to build the bridges of success in the areas of business development, management, leadership and personal training, community and governmental involvement. With member in local communities throughout the state, the Iowa Jaycees provide a stable organization for young people to help make a positive and lasting impact.
